DENT held the 2nd Annual DENT National Championship Demolition Derby on Saturday, April 24, 1999 at the St. John Arena in Steubenville, Ohio. The event was comprised of over 100 drivers from across the country and Canada, who reported that the event was truly the most thrilling and aggressive demolition derby they had ever experienced. Enthusiastic fans supported this claim, cheering their favorite drivers on through 8 heats of sheer excitement.
To qualify for this championship event, drivers had to have placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd place in a demolition derby in 1998. Scott Zizelman of Ohio, the winner of the 1999 DENT Championship Derby, walked away with $10,000, the official DENT Championship Ring and the coveted Franklin-Root Award.
The format consisted of eight heats culminating in a final feature event. The last two cars running from each heat qualified for the feature and a shot at the DENT Championship Title.
